The rainfall
varies from 50 - 500 mm per year according to geographic region,
with great fluctuations in the amount from year to year and
from month to month, which affects vegetation and plant phenology
greatly. In some years the maximum rainfall may exceed 800
mm in some places with a drop to 300 mm the next year at the
same place. In general the mountain ranges receive the most
rainfall which becomes less towards the Eastern Desert, and

due to the variation in altitude. The extreme grades recorded
in Jordan range from -10 to 45° C. In general the mean
annual minimal temperature range is 5-15° C and the mean
maximum temperature range is 20-30° C. The mountain ranges
